Dr. Cabrera’s Lavender Farms: A Leader in Agritourism

Lavender Waves Farms stands out as a leading example of success in agritourism. Since purchasing the land, Dr. Cabrera has made significant upgrades, including installing electricity, improving the water system, and expanding animal facilities with stables and a poultry area. The farm is home to rare camels—both Dromedary and Bactrian breeds—which fascinate children and families. Lavender Waves is proud to host three of the five privately held Bactrian camels in Rhode Island. The farm’s chickens also play a vital role in pest control. Dr. Cabrera’s commitment to sustainability is evident in his approach to both farming and animal care. His vision for the farm combines historic preservation with modern farming techniques, offering a unique destination for agritourism enthusiasts. “We have the only two dromedary camels in Rhode Island, named Jack and Bingham,” Dr. Cabrera shared. “Jack is brown, and Bingham is white. They were raised together and joined us in March 2023. Humphrey, our 3-year-old Bactrian camel, has been with us since he was just five months old.”
